Christmas Dance

Workshop of the Lay Apostolate

Seniors of the week: Maureen Clinton and Frank Dankovitch

[Article Text] Students are preparing for the mid-term exams which are scheduled to begin on Jan. 18.

The Christmas dance, a social and financial success, displayed decorations of a Yuletide motif. Members of the decorating committee were Norman Austin, Susan Baker,Mary Ellen Benson, Maureen Clinton, Louie Comitz, Barry Gildea, Margaret Godleski, Billie Lehman, Pat Kinney, Margaret Moore and Mary Kay Pettinger.

On Monday night the Lions met St. Mary’s in the first league game of the basketball season. The close contest was followed by a game with St. Vincent’s on Thursday.

Senior members of the C.S.M.C. are planning to attend the workshop of the Lay Apostolate which will be held in February at Scranton. Officers of the group, Sheila McCormick, president; Judy Kovalcik; vice president Shirley Shamun, secretary and Tommy O’Boyle, treasurer, are the major figures of the activity.

Preparations for the “big day” got under way when measurements for caps and gowns were taken.

Mark Albosta, Robert Niemiec, and Charlie White, novice debaters, spent part of their Christmas vacation doing research work at the library.

In her freshman year, Maureen was vice president of the class and represented St. Leo’s in the Whitman History Contest during her junior year. Her kind smile and keen intellect have made her high school years sicuakky abd schikastucakky successful. While French and economics are her favorite subjects, she enjoys reading and meeting new people. Semptember will find Maureen at College Misericordia.

Sports-minded Frank Dankovitch enjoys basketball, football, boxing and swimming, cosiders typing to be his favorite subject. He was crown bearer in the October services for the crowning of Christ the King. Frank, who terms himself, “a jack of all trades,” plans to visit with Uncle Sam after graduation.
